Privacy Policy — QR Generator
Effective date: 2026-06-07 Last updated: 2026-06-07
QR Generator is built by Halley Software. It's an iPhone and iPad app, designed so it doesn't need your data to work. This policy explains what the app does with what you scan, generate, and save — and, mostly, what it doesn't do.
The short version
- QR Generator collects no personal data. None.
- There are no accounts, no analytics, no ads, and no third-party trackers.
- The app works entirely offline. Generating and scanning QR codes happen on your device — the app makes no network requests for your data.
- Everything the app stores — your scan and generation history — lives on your device and never leaves it. There is no iCloud sync.
- The camera is used only to scan QR codes, on-device. The photo library is used only to save QR codes you export. Contacts are touched only when you choose to create a contact from a scanned vCard QR.
- The optional one-time purchase is handled entirely by Apple — we never see your payment details.
What the app stores
Scan and generation history
Your history of scanned and generated QR codes is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. It is never transmitted anywhere, and we never see it. There is no iCloud sync — your history stays on the one device. If you delete the app, this history is gone; there is no cloud backup, by design.
Camera
The camera is used only to scan QR codes. Camera frames are processed in real time on your device to detect codes; no images are uploaded, and the app does not save camera images for this purpose. iOS asks for camera permission the first time you scan. You can revoke it at any time in iOS Settings.
Photo library
When you save or export a QR code, the app writes the image to your photo library. iOS mediates this permission — the app only adds the images you choose to export. You can revoke this permission at any time in iOS Settings.
Contacts
If you scan a QR code that contains a contact (a vCard), the app can create a contact for you in the Contacts app. This happens only when you choose it, and only writes the contact you asked for — the app does not otherwise read, upload, or sync your contacts. iOS asks for Contacts permission the first time, and you can revoke it at any time in iOS Settings.
In-app purchase
QR Generator's "Pro Unlock" is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Apple's StoreKit. Halley Software receives only a signed receipt from Apple confirming whether the purchase was made. We never see your name, Apple ID, payment method, or any financial information. Apple's privacy policy governs your App Store purchase: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy
What we do not do
- We do not collect analytics or usage data.
- We do not use third-party trackers, advertising SDKs, or crash-reporting services.
- We do not show ads.
- We do not require an account.
- We do not sync your data to iCloud or anywhere else.
- We do not make network requests with your data — the app works offline.
- We do not sell, rent, or share any data — because we don't have any.
Your rights
Because QR Generator collects no personal data, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export, or delete. Under laws like the GDPR (EU), UK GDPR, and CCPA (California) you have rights over personal data a business holds about you — in our case, we hold none. If you have a question about this, email [email protected] and we'll respond within 30 days.
Children's privacy
QR Generator is a general-audience utility. It collects no data from anyone, including children under 13. There is no server-side record to remove — deleting the app removes the only thing it ever stores (your local history).
