Privacy Policy — Am I Drunk?

Effective date: 2026-06-14 Last updated: 2026-06-14

Am I Drunk? is built by Halley Software. It's an iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch app, designed so it doesn't need your data to work. This policy explains what the app does with what you log — and, mostly, what it doesn't do.

For entertainment and informational purposes only. Am I Drunk? is not a breathalyzer or a medical device, and it never indicates that it's safe or legal to drive — at any reading. If you've had any alcohol, don't drive. See the Terms for the full disclaimer.

The short version

What the app stores

Drink logs, profile, and session history

Everything you enter — the drinks you log, your profile, and your session history — is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. On the free tier it never leaves your device, and we never see it. If you delete the app, this data is gone, unless you have Pro sync enabled (below).

Blood alcohol estimate

Your blood alcohol content (BAC) is estimated entirely on your device using the Widmark formula, based on your profile and the drinks you log. The estimate is computed locally and is never sent anywhere. It is an estimate for entertainment and informational purposes only — see the disclaimer above.

iCloud sync (Pro)

If you buy Am I Drunk? Pro and enable sync, your session history and profile are synced through your own private iCloud database (iCloud.com.halleysoftware.amidrunk) using Apple's CloudKit. This data is stored in your iCloud account, tied to your Apple ID. Halley Software cannot access it — Apple does not grant developers visibility into private user data stored this way. The free tier never uses iCloud.

In-app purchase

Am I Drunk? Pro is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Apple's StoreKit. Halley Software receives only a signed receipt from Apple confirming whether the purchase was made. We never see your name, Apple ID, payment method, or any financial information. Apple's privacy policy governs your App Store purchase: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy

What we do not do

Your rights

Because Am I Drunk? collects no personal data, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export, or delete. Under laws like the GDPR (EU), UK GDPR, and CCPA (California) you have rights over personal data a business holds about you — in our case, we hold none. If you have a question about this, email [email protected] and we'll respond within 30 days.

Children's privacy

Am I Drunk? is intended for adults of legal drinking age and is rated 17+. It collects no data from anyone, including children. There is no server-side record to remove — deleting the app removes the data it stores on your device.

Website

This policy covers the Am I Drunk? app. The Halley Software website (halleysoftware.com) has its own privacy practices — see halleysoftware.com/privacy.

Changes to this policy
